History of Josef Seibel

With over 100 years of experienced craftsmanship, it can’t be beaten in terms of comfortable footwear. Introduced into the UK in 1996, the ‘style with comfort’ footwear brand has focused on superior production techniques to develop footwear that is a pleasure to wear and easy on the eye.

In 1886 Carl-August Seibel established one of the first shoe factories in Hauenstein, a small town in the Palatinate. Even today the town has only 5 000 inhabitants.

In the beginning shoes and sandals were produced in different ways in his own house.

The first company building was constructed in 1907. Even today this is used for manufacturing. The 1920s and 1930s were marked by the ups and downs of the years between the world wars.

After war production during the second world war, the third family generation under the leadership of Josef Seibel rebuilt the company in the fifties and sixties with new styles and models as well as an increase in production.

In the early seventies the recession of the German shoe industry started, which was successful averted by Josef Sebel with energy and new ideas.

The change and further development of the company happend at the end of the 80`s. New production facilities, offices and warehouses were built in Hauenstein, Romania and Hungary.

Today we are one of the leading shoe manufacturer of Germany.
